This site was originally about the real estate industry, but now it is about politics, economics, government, freedom, entrepreneurship, innovation, objectivty and other such stuff important to humans. I uphold libertarian principles and believe wholeheartedly in limited government -- this blog explains why.

Oh, they might make a profit

Aside from the fact it doesn't matter if government makes a profit interfering with free enterprise, because they shouldn't be involved to begin with, how much profit could be generated if that $700 billion had been kept by the producers who made the money to begin with?

That's how we will judge if it's a "good idea".

    Mike,

So true. This is the case for all taxes paid, and we know how "productive" the government is with our taxes!

Of course, they are just creating money right now, but it has to be paid off eventually -- and all that money would be better invested in the economy through the free choices of the people who make the money.

I swear, we need only a consumer tax for a right-sized government..
