This site was originally about the real estate industry, but now it is about politics, economics, government, freedom, entrepreneurship, innovation, objectivty and other such stuff important to humans. I uphold libertarian principles and believe wholeheartedly in limited government -- this blog explains why.

Over and over, the same tired spiel

I read it all over the internet -- the financial crisis will hurt the party in power. Why? Because bad news always does, duh!

Sometimes I want to explode when I read seemingly intelligent writers just repeat old media myths as if they are the word of God. The truth is that the Democrats have been more complicit in the financial crisis than the Republicans. I'm an independent, but I refuse to be silent this year about the Democrats' dishonest grab for power in the face of a financial crisis with their fingerprints all over it.

If the stakes weren't so high I wouldn't care who won the election, but it has become clear in recent days that McCain must win. As confused as McCain seems to be about free market principles at least he has some left, and hopefully his waffling is just the result of a competitive campaign.

This is a time for a party with at least some sympathy for capitalism -- the Democrats will attempt to destroy capitalism with this crisis as the weapon. Expansion of government power under the Democrats will smother the economy and place us at a serious disadvantage in the global market. Taxes will go through the roof and government programs will proliferate at a speed that will make even George Bush dizzy. It's a terrible state of affairs that we truly are at the choice of lesser evils. I can only hope that if Republicans win, they will come to their senses and reverse the tide of statism and begin addressing root causes of our financial dilemma.

We HAVE to wake up and see what has led to the housing crash and lending insanity. It was Democrat led efforts to expand social engineering through Fannie and Freddie to the point of putting our whole financial system at risk. Yes, many businesses were giddy with exuberance -- but government (mostly Democrat) enticement led to the exuberance, fed it, encouraged it, turned a blind to it, secretly loved it, subsidized it and all the while hoped their voter base would grow until they recaptured power in the White House.

The desire to capture power has become so great in both parites that it's tearing our country apart and killing the productive spirit that built it. The Democrats are obsessed with winning back the White House, to the point that it doesn't matter what's destroyed on the way there. It's an obscene display of naked ambition and GREED. Talk about GREED! The Democrats are busy throwing that word around, yet they are greed gone ballistic. Their vicious attacks on anyone who questions their policies and ability to govern a free people are violent and thorough. They are bent on destroying anything or anyone in their path.

While the Republicans are far from stellar in their performance and support for freedom and capitalism, they are the country's only hope. How frigging sad is that?
